The Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus), also called Althea, is a versatile flowering shrub or small tree that brings long-lasting color to the summer landscape. Blooming from mid to late summer, it produces large, showy flowers in shades of white, pink, red, or purple—often accented with a striking red center. Loved for its ability to thrive in heat and full sun, this hardy hibiscus attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators.

Rose of Sharon can be grown as a lush flowering hedge, a specimen shrub, or trained into a small ornamental tree. Once established, it is low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, and ideal for creating vibrant color when few other plants are blooming.
